National Handloom Day was celebrated with enthusiasm to familiarise students with India’s rich handloom heritage and the contribution of skilled weavers.
A short video on National Handloom Day was shown, followed by an interactive Teachers’ Talk on handloom, different fibres such as cotton, silk and wool, and various handloom products including sarees, dupattas, scarves, shawls and bedsheets. Teachers also explained the basic weaving process.
A simple paper-weaving activity was demonstrated, giving students a hands-on understanding of the weaving process.
The activity helped students appreciate the skill, creativity and hard work of Indian weavers and develop respect for the country’s cultural heritage. Principal Ms. Ritu Sharma appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to value and preserve India’s rich handloom tradition.
